Andrew swamps Dave at Pedham

It was a dry but blustery day at Pedham Place, an ‘inland links’ golf course for Andrew and Dave to contest their Mond Cup semi-final. The opening two holes were halved in par & bogey respectively, then Andrew went on a 4 hole winning streak, which included two pars, characterised by good approach play and unerring putts ranging from 8-10 feet to put him in command. Dave pulled one hole back at the par 4 ninth to be 3 down at the turn.

Andrew responded immediately, winning the 10th hole, only to be pegged back again by Dave winning the 11th with a par 5; Andrew’s ball being lost somewhere on the grassy ridge on the approach to this 453 yard hole played into the prevailing breeze. But Dave’s form then floundered as Andrew won the next three holes, closing out the match on the 14th hole; winning 6 and 4.

Dave’s brother James, no doubt with an eye to his own semi-final match, made up a three ball for the morning’s round and all had a great time.
